we would highly recommend Dean and his crew of Deanwood contracting. They have done several jobs for us. we needed a major reparation of the en-suite shower. Several months later it leaked again and dean came back promptly to fix the problem, only charging for the new materials. We also had a wood floor installed in the hallway, which was beautifully done.

We would like to express our appreciation to Good Wood for the outstanding total renovation on our new house basement in June 2014.

At the beginning, our basement was full of stuffs from the moving one year ago. We just worried how we can move them out and where to store them. Dean offered an idea to make a mezzanine in our garage and he kindly built it at very reasonable cost. We had only one weekend to empty the basement and we could not finish it, but the Good Wood’s team helped us to move the heavy things out. So the problem was solved.

During the project, the Good Wood staff was very helpful, courteous and efficient. They turned awkward comers and vents into shapes and made smart use of all available spaces. Lynnett did not mind working double hard to satisfy us with choices of paints and colors for each room and area. Her expertise was exceptional to make all colors to go in harmony from ceiling to floor. Obviously, Dean and the team were very experienced and took pride in their work. From start to finish, the whole project was handled very professionally.

One thing we highly appreciate was that before finishing up the basement Dean allowed us to move in all bulky furniture. The Good Wood staff then finished it by fixing up all scratches and upgrading the stair way to make a beautiful entrance into the basement.

We recently had a big meeting with about 20 friends in our house We’ve had so many compliments from them on our basement. And one of our friends already asked Dean to work on her basement.

We were introduced to Dean and Lynette in 2006 when selecting a contractor to build a rather elaborate deck on the back of our house. From the moment they started Dean and Lynette took charge and handled every detail as if they were working on a project for themselves. When any changes were necessary, they accepted them without argument or complaint. The job was finished on time and on budget and we received a refund of an over payment on the job. We were thrilled and awarded the contract to Goodwood to renovate our commercial building in Oro-Medonte. Again the project was handled with care and came in on time and on budget. The attention to detail was tremendous and on a number of occasions small items that were not included in the original Plan of Work were completed without complaint or up charge.

Since then we have become friends with Dean and Lynette sharing life’s ups and downs together. They are always there for us and have given freely of their time and their empathy during some very trying times. Dean and Lynette exist in that rare group of human beings that are givers rather than takers. We have come to know of their charitable work through their church in the “Out of the Cold” program and Dean’s personal efforts to counsel troubled youth. The easy way for most of us to be charitable is to write a cheque. Not Dean and Lynette. Every week they give of their time and their wisdom to others in need with no expectation of applause or reward.

Their personal belief system and their faith demand honesty and we have never once had any cause to question it.

We have known Dean and his family for over 10 years. We began our relationship as strictly business after searching for a company that would give us quality of workmanship, respect and someone who would understand that our unique family means the world to us and that our money is hard earned.

We tried using companies that were well known around Barrie but felt that they were abusing their reputation to overcharge without quality. We were skeptical at first but learned to trust Dean and his judgment; mostly we learned that Dean wanted US to feel that we got value, quality and respect for our investment. He was always open to our ideas and perspectives as we had to live with the results.

We ended up doing ALL of our renovations through GOODWOOD. This included a complete overhaul of our entire house and property. He came in on time and well under budget. In fact, we were so pleased at the value he added to our house and how he, his employees and his family treated us that we quickly became great friends.

We have continued our friendship with his family and will only use Dean and GOODWOOD General Contracting on future matters, both big and small, with our family’s property investments.
